A major theme weaving its way through narrative, policy, and discord on the Left is the refusal to accept decisions and behavior as causation of outcomes.
Right, Elizabeth?
Whether it be people dying after assaulting a cop or resisting arrest in the worst way possible, or a woman making the decision to exchange $100,000 in debt for a degree, the Left sees every outcome distinct from their decisions and behavior.
The root of this stems from the Left’s eradication of personal responsibility in their pursuit of creating the world they believe ought to exist. Liberals hate and fear judgement, which is a requisite of personal responsibility. As Pocahontas mentions above, the Left believes it’s unfair for women to have college debt because it prohibits them from accumulating more resources. She believes a women’s ability and decision to take on debt is not fair. You read that right.
This bring us to the next theme we see on the Left: fairness. If you wanted to rile up children and get them upset, how would you do it? That’s right. Yeah. You’d bring up fairness. Fairness is subjective and anything on the planet can be framed as unfair. Fairness can’t be measured. There’s no such thing as fairness. What’s fair to one is unfair to another. The Left uses fairness as a way to get those low in cognitive function focused on issues they would otherwise not care about, or give them a way to argue (h/t Scott Adams).
They view everything through a lens of fairness. Ever wonder what it would look like for a generation of Americans to view reality through a lens of fairness? You don’t have to wonder anymore. We’re watching it.
The Left neglects personal responsibility and never considers one’s own behavior and decisions as determinants to their outcomes.
The Left views many issues through the subjective fairness filter.
